Asian American Assoication

As Family Head for the Asian American Association at Indiana University, I led a group of approximately 50 first-year students, creating an environment where they could build friendships, find mentors, and develop a sense of belonging during one of the biggest transitions of their lives. Through monthly social events and consistent check-ins, I helped turn a group of strangers into a close knit community that supported one another academically, socially, and personally long after the events ended.

What I did:

  • Mentored and supported a family of approximately 50 first year students throughout the academic year.

  • Planned and hosted monthly events that encouraged members to connect and build lasting friendships.

  • Fostered an inclusive environment where students felt comfortable seeking guidance on academic, personal, and campus life challenges.

  • Created opportunities for peer to peer relationships that evolved into an ongoing support network beyond organized events.

  • Helped new students navigate the transition to college by serving as a trusted mentor and community leader.

  • Strengthened member engagement and belonging through intentional relationship building and consistent communication.
