Over the course of three years, I:

• Planned and hosted two community-building events each month to strengthen relationships among residents.

• Designed monthly bulletin boards from concept to completion, creating engaging educational and community-focused displays.

• Mentored first-year students by serving as a resource for academics, campus life, and personal challenges.

• Helped mediate roommate conflicts and connected students with campus resources when they were experiencing personal or mental health concerns.

• Led weekly overnight duty rotations, remaining on call for up to 12 hours to respond to emergencies and ensure the safety of the residence hall.

• Collaborated with graduate staff and the Teter leadership team to support building operations and resident wellbeing.

• Served as a liaison between the Asian Culture Center and the APATC community, helping coordinate programming and strengthen connections between residents and campus resources.

• Guided the APATC Council, a team of five student leaders responsible for planning community events, coordinating with campus organizations, managing budgets, and communicating initiatives to residents.

• Completed leadership conferences and professional development training each semester to strengthen my skills in crisis response, inclusion, student support, and community leadership.

Living with the students I served taught me that leadership isn't just about organizing events—it's about building trust, creating a sense of belonging, and showing up consistently for people when they need you most.

I served as the Residential Assistant for the Asian Pacific American Thematic community at IU for 3 years. I had to be in charge of 50 plus students. I lived on the floor with these residents. Half of them was regular reisdents and the other half is part of the APATC. I served as a liaison between the Asian Culture Center and the floor. I had to do rounds, which means being on the clock for 12 hours at a time and answer calls through out the night incase anything happens. So I have rounds every week to monitor the building in teams of 4 through the night. I created monthly bulletin boards from scratch. I created two floor events a month to bond the floor. I was always available as a mentor and resource as this community was all freshmen. Making sure that the floor community is going well, and if any student is going through mental struggles to provide them resources. Along with helping them navigate any roommate conflicts. I helped guide and lead the APATC counsel every year. The counsel is made up of 5 residents and they have various roles, and they help plan events for the APATC community. and help with any communication with other organizations, along with getting budgets and things approved. I worked with a gradate assistant and the leadership team to help run and monitor the Teter building. I attend conference and training every semester or make sure I am equipped on helping student every new year.
