Indiana University Union Board

Meadow Motion (Student Film Festival)

About the event

I founded Union Board's first-ever annual student film festival, creating a campus wide platform for student filmmakers.

We opened submissions to all IU students across any genre or category, with a 10-minute max runtime. From the pool of submissions, six finalists were selected and their films were screened in the Whittenberger Auditorium, where a live audience voted for their favorite. The winner received a B&H Photo gift card, chosen intentionally so the prize went back into their craft.

The Process

We wanted it to feel like a real festival, not just a screening. The festival was originally designed as an outdoor event, but a last-minute weather call forced a full venue pivot. We secured an indoor space, reorganized logistics on the fly.

Beyond the screening, we built out a full festival experience: booths for film-related student organizations to connect with attendees, independent vendors, and food and drinks, making it a genuine community event, not just a competition.
